daffodil kimono

So yeah my newest baby came in(hoooray!) so i had to try it on even if my birthday party was just a couple of hours away, my dad did me the honor of takeing thease pics!

I look a little top heavy in this pic but i think it has a little to do with the way i was standing..... oh well i love this baby and the sunburn isn't very visible... i think i need to wear my obi a tad lower... and i really need to make a padded vest so i look less bottom heavy in the future....

i so caved...

Man i am dissapoited in myself and yet so... so very happy at the same time... i bought an obi... but sadly i had no self controle(thats the part i a most dissapointed by) I bought it useing the buy it now opption, too impatient to wait 4 days... sigh but it is pretty.... and a pre tied lovely... and it isn't red... all i have right now in the way of obi is red.... and pink... seriousely lacking really...

here some pics of my newest new baby... right after my new red baby....

so yeah i was interested in this beauty from the moment isaw it... its just so mellow and pretty... i can see purples, blue... browns... the barests of pinks oh and a little yellow... this will go great with any mellow color and quite a few bright colors as well...

well another reason i was interested in this cutie was because i felt that i could use it for an example if i wanted to make my own pre tied Taiko.... (cuz i may make some of my won obi and if made from american cloth i would like to make it easy...) though i would never cut up an already made obi i ought... what if i wanted to tie it in a diffrent way... being lazy is good and all but only if i know i will never want to tie an obi in another way...

either way this bueaty was just so... pretty! I had to have... and i think it will look good with my newest red kimono... its not too bland and its mellow... i will wear it with probibly mellow or dark green acessories... which by the way i am currently looking for alternitives to expencive jap stuff... aka i'm looking for a lovely scarf/makeing a lovely scarf and some sort of sub for an obijime (this last one may never come to pass in my wishes....)
oh well what ever
cya (lots of posts recently...)

Status:

I am currently cleaning out my closet for more kimono storage options... what fun! I was running out of room already so i just shucked a good pile of clothing and shoes and now some shelves will be coming out of there... good for me huh? Also i may have found a beautiful obi for my kimono... i hope i get it....

wow...

i just realized that it has been five months since i refell inlove with kimono.... in commemoration i think i should post a pic from my early days before i knew how wrong i was andmy first real kimono...

Left: a hakama furi inspired outfit you cannot see em but i have some nice rideing style boots that i plan to use when i have a real set of women's hakama this pic is over a year old now
Right: me in a homemade kimono based costume poseing next to an unknown catgirl... who is also not wearing a real kimono... sigh... this picture is about two years old...

why do some of my pics end up sideways.... -.-

sideways pic of doom: My first real kimono, a Yukata with Peony and.... daffodils and some other asorted flowers. its a lovely yukata.

Meh. in other news i think i'm going to make some new stuff... mainly i will atempt to make a makura pillow... i think i can make something of the right size and consistencey if i use some news paper.... i want to be able to dress up some of my friends oneday and if i wana do that i either have to get yukata or... i need to make some sub items for them/me to use...

I still need to check out the restraunt Origami... i hear it is cool with semi tradittional decor... my friend (she loves asian culture as well and is going to be a forein exchange student in south Korea) loves it there... they have low tables on a raised up platform because there is a hole under the table for the comfort of the non-japanese... lols i'm still trying to figure out a way i could sit at one of such tables in a kimono... I think if i want to acomplish such a feat it would take some kneeling, a lot of arm and hand help, and some twisting.... i could do it... >.> maybe.

perhapse i will wear my red kimono to this place...
Hah... Its Mid january in texas and its not very cold... perfect for wearing kimon though, its a lovely 50+ F weather right now so if the wind dosn't blow too much it could be quite comfy in kimono.

in just a few weeks i will have my new kimono... i am very excited but i have changed my mind on the obi color... instead of the high contrast blue i will probibly go for a grass green color (real green... not the color of the dead grass that is texas right now) as for the accesories... maybe a yellow.... or maybe something in the cream color area.... oh well untill i find my obi i cannot choose accesories...
Well thats alli have to talk about... (i post offten about what ever right? i don't have a lot of people would would listen to me ramble like this so i find it works great to ramble on a blog)

Bye bye... for now....

Kimono Goals for 2012

Yo every one! to start off this post i just wanted to list out some of my kimono related goals for this new year...
-get a red kimono
-to even out the obi/kimono ratio of my collection... aka have more obi then kimono
-go to a restrant in kimono
-go to japanese garden in kimono
-eat at a jap restraunt called Origami
-Find a way to store more kimono in my closet... i'm running out of room!
-get a hime hair cut

Ok so i hope to acomplish all of thease things this year (and hopefully the world will not end and it will be something i can keep! DX stupid end of the world rumor... i doubt it is true...)

In othernews a couple of days ago i tried sushi! it was good.... even though i still don't like the idea of eating raw fish regularly. Also i tried Tempura... it was soggy cuz it was in soup but it tasted good too...

Also my mom saw something really cool at our local grocery store! an asian lady(mom has no clue if she was apanese but i'm pretty sure she is) was shopping around in a kimono! my mom stalked her and took a picture of her. she looked really good and in yellow i think the pattern was... butterflies? or something in that kind of shape any way.... he he... i wish i had been the one to see her.... sigh... i really wish i knew more kimono knollegable people... My newest buddy is good and all... but she's no expert and i offten bring stuff so she can look it over and we can geek out together.... but i cannot ask her if there is a better way to pad myself or how the freeking way do i tie a taiko bow with my obi.. there are like three diffrent ways and i still have no idea whatto do with that tail!(the narrow part one anyway) i know i'm suposed to yuck it in but how???

meh sorry about ranting like that... well i hope to go to the austin botanical gardens some time this spring like in april... i hear they are very pretty that time of year... i asume they won't be draining out any of the ponds that time of year... but i hope to go to Oragami soon, once not in kimono to scout it out (i hear it has awsome japa style decor) and then next timei would go in kimono....

Meh, its been about 8 months since i got my hair cut..... its grown about 3 inches already.... or 7.5 cm... lols thats almost a CM a month... pretty good huh? well it'll be another 6-7 months before i get my desired hair cut.... oh well and i geuss thats all... man thought this post would be short yet its long like always... lols
