Cosplay

Ok so i've been wanting to do some sort of cosplay, or more acurately have some one to cosplay as, for a while now. I like many a cosplayer have a school girl uniform and a few other choice items... But since i have rediscovered kimono in full i really realised how much of my cosplay was Wa-loli in my colection any who.

So this cosplay i will come up with will also be kimono oriented. I wracked my brains for a suitable charecter that i could play as and for the longest time i could thing of none... see when i cosplay i like a) generic (like the school girl uniform) or b) some one i can do without too much work on me or my hair... So in other words anything that needs a wig is out... I was shopping with my mom the other day when i came up with the perfect cosplay for me.

The charecter i am cosplaying as is called Zakuro. the manga/anime is called Otome Youkai Zakuro.
Zakuro is a good match for me because she has dark hair, wears kimono, and has bangs...
here is a few pics of Zakuro and her fox girl friends:

SO aside from the Furisode length sleeves ( i am not getting a pink furisode) i will do my best to follow the cosplay.

So i will need:
1: a set of black or dark brown fox/cat ears, clip on preferable.
2. a pink (preferably vintage) kimono
3. a white ruffled wrap around apron
4. purple obi
5. red date eri
6. some large pink hair bows
7. lace and ribbon to atach to my juban
8. a belt with a white/silver buckle thing with black belt
9. darker pink obiage

and in the undesided range:
10. a branch with pink blossoms all over.

i will need  to buy the kimono, obi, and a few other choice bits like the lace... but otherwise i can make a good deal... such as the apron, date eri, the hair bows, and i am trying to make the ears...

now where will i wear this you all are probably asking... well I plan on wearing it to Ikki-con which is from december 28-30th. so thats almost six months to make this baby work and to get the perfect stuff. this should be a fun cosplay!

kitsuke test run...

Well every time i get a new kimono i have to, have to, have to try it on and improve so it dosn't have a horrible clashing thing going on... so i di it with my orange cherry Komon. This is a Wool Komon and super cutefurther delay... Pics!! Its in Mint condition except there were some shouldertucks... they had no function so i let them out (the past owner must have had shortish arms?) so now it dosn't even have that. also my newest Zori came in not long before... so with no further delay here are the pics!

my new zori, they look pretty nice right? very casual though.

And to finish it all up here is a picture of my cat in a box...

updates

Yes this is just an update post because a lot of stuff has come in and the whatnot the last week-two weeks. As i made a quicky post all of you know i have a Hime cut now and i'm lovin it but my hairdresser didn't just comb it down and snip... somehow she had some hair pulled back so when my long hair isn't pulled back the shorter level look like its only 1-2 inches/ 2.5-5 cm... but when i pull back my long hair it looks a whole inch/2.5 cm wider... its kinda fun...

Oh well on to more important matters. I now have a second pair of zori, thease fit better then my silver pair, they are a bit widder so my feet don't hang off the sides. I'm still not sure how much myfeet are suposed to hang off the back but i feel a little better about this pair, its not like i try and jamm my whole foot into this pair or zori (i now know you are only suposed to slid it on about half way up your big toe or something... The zori are Tatami style, but they are not really tatami... they do have nice rubber soles though and so i won'tg be afraid to wear them out after a rain storm.

My newest Kimono, a cherry patterned Komon Came in the day before yesterday. it has a matching Haori which excites me. both are wool but i feel its not super heavy wool... i still won't wear it in summer outside... that would be suicide. I got a matching Tsuke obi to go with it but when it came i found it was an incompleat Tsuke obi... it had no ties or hook on the tare part... so i will finish it.

I got my juban drycleaned so i should beable to do a photo shoot soon.

Lastly: I found out that there is a vintage kimonoshop on the outskirts of houston, which for me is about a 2 hour drive but if i whent out there for a day trip then its not that big of a problem... i would like some company. I hope to go down some time in july and buy some kimono goodies! (its pretty inexpencive)

Well thats all for now, i should be having a kimono photoshoot tomorrow. Iwill post pics as soon as i get around to it. Bye bye!

Ok so its sunday and i desided i had to have one last test run. My kimono came in on thursday ad i tried it on but took no pics. I got all the stuff i wanted to use and made em. so my outfit is as follows. 1 hitoe kimono, 1 tsuke obi, 1 hand made obidome, some squiggly gold ribbon for an obijime, some pic fabric as a makeshift obiage and a matching little bag that won't be shown.

The good camera died so we took pics useing my phone. forgive the quality here they are.

Excitement

The title sums it up... I'm super excited for this kimono event. My kimono of squiggles and stuff came yesterday so today after school I began my quest for improv items for my debut kitsuke! Man I know that once Monday rolls around I'll be nervous to the point of reconsidering but I made my choice and I'll stick with it.

In other news I realized I made a bad choice in obi... Meh. Luckily my gold, peach , cream Tuske obi looks pretty good. Not stellar but pretty good. Also I'm making my first obidome!!!

Well that's all I'll post some pics of my stuff tomorrow. See u guys then.

False alarm and worry

So yesterday i asked my mom if anything had come for me. she said yes and so i natrally asumed it was my new hitoe kimono... well it was not and it wasn't even from the same people. i ened up with some other guys order. the yellow japanese shipping slip had the name samuel on it and so i asume it belongs to him.

Well if my Hitoe kimono dosn't come in by friday, saterday at the lastest, then i guess i will wear my yukata... because i really want to wear kimono even if its just a yukata... so yeah i am getting a tad nervouse...

in other news i looked at my total page veiws and was mildly afraid... i had 666 page veiws... that kind of thing has happened to me only once before... i am glad that i have so many page veiws though.... i just wish they hadn't ended up right at that number when i checked...
