Hello Every one! Yesterday was prom and i'm only mentioning it because i'm pondering going in kimono next time since i'm only a junior. Then again maybe not but thats it on that subject.
In other news what i expected to be a kimono fashion show held by my local Japanese American Society of Greater Austin, has turned into a Kimono 101 lecture. i'm still going because hey i get to see kimono in person. My newest Kimono, the synthetic one, hasn't arived yet, so i may not end up going in full kimono sha-bang. i might just end up wearing a michiyuki again... though if it arives by next saterday i will still go in kimono... if it comes later then saterday then well i'm out of luck because i need to see it to get the accesories of the propper colors and such i would need sunday to make and try em out. meh... i'm still glad i got my first Hitoe kimono.
Other wise i don't have much going on, i'm going to try for a Ro kimono ( i need 1 since i live in texas, by june its over 100 F or abouve 38 C, hot! this is why i need a bunch of summer kimono or i might die, or sweat so heavily i ruin my beloved kimono!) and maybe a new juban... i need a new juban..
oh well thats all for now!

Busy saterday with golden clouds
well yesterday was super busy... Because i am in NHS (national Honor society) i had to go to a senior citezen prom from 10:00 am- 4:20 pm... thats a little over six hours... yikes. i got random cuts on my feet (the top inside part... don't ask me how...) but before i was gone in a flury i was hit by good luck.
I just knew something was going to come for me in themail yesterday, i just thought it would be once i was gone. well not ten minutes after takeing my shower and jamming out to songs by Maiko Fujita (yes not the traditional jamming songs) i hear the dorrbell ring twice... well it kept buzzing cuz the guy jammed our doorbell, i rushed downstairs, my hair up in a towl and my robe on, it reaches about mid thigh by the way.
at first i was exstatic and miffed because i thought it was my new hitoe kimono and i didn't have time to gawk over it. then i realized the bag was a little small for that and i remembered i had baught a gold/cream fukuro obi about two weeks ago... i cut open thebrown bag and low and behold...
it was indeed my obi.
well after my senior citezen prom thing i whent over to my kimono buddy Marry Ann's house for some dinner and i brought all the stuff to show her how to tie an obi in the Taiko Musubi. i must say i felt better about tieing it on her (and her sister, i tied a taiko musubi on them both XD) then i did last weekend with my nagoya obi. infact they both came out almost perfect... sadly i forgot to take pics... it was kinda funny because they desided to wear a yukata underneith...
oh well here are some pics of my lovely obi hanging on one of my Kimono hangers!
its a nice nonseasonal fukuro obi. i can wear it anytime but the dead of summer. well i guess thats it. see you guys later.

Obi tying
Ok so yesterday i fixed my collars... today i desided to practice tying my obi... it whent ok... it doesn't look quite right... I'm doing some hard core kimono training but being self taught can be a dissadvantage because i can't get a second opinion very easily.... oh well here are the pics... don't mind the color combo... this is purely for practice.

new goals
Ok so back in january, not that long ago really i had some goals set up for this year. they included:
-get a red kimono
-to even out the obi/kimono ratio of my collection... aka have more obi then kimono-go to a restrant in kimono
-go to japanese garden in kimono
-eat at a jap restraunt called Origami
-Find a way to store more kimono in my closet... i'm running out of room!-get a hime hair cut
well i was pretty surprised to see that in around three months i had acomplished three of my goals! So i am revising my goals a tad right now for those who are interested. here they are:
-have my kimono debute
-go to a japanese restraunt in kimono
-buy 2-3 summer weight kimono
-buy 2-3 summer weight obi
- get a face frameing kimono worthy hair cut
Ok so as to why a few of my goals changed... as for my haircut... well i realised i wated something that framed my face more thenanything... so i will get such a hair cut and if i want i can slowly grow it out and transform it into a hime cut...
i still want to go to the japanese garden but Awase season is quickly ending and my friend isn't telling me if she is free or not...
as for my debute... i may have had my internet debute but i have yet to go out in public... In May there is a kimono fashion show... i am determined to go to that in kimono... i am already looking for my outfit... infact i may buy a kimono as soon as tomarow. wish me luck... maybe i can even talk my kimono friend into wearing kimono to the fashion shoe... not that she has anything seaon apropriate either...
And as for my summer weight goal... well i live in texas... the summer is hot and long... sometimes its still hot even into october... we had an unseasonably warm winter so i hope next winter is cooler... better for wearing kimono... but either way... i still need a good deal of kimono i can wear when it gets hot... i should probibly even get a second Yukata...
well thats all for my rant i guess... had to get that off of my chest... if i win the kimono i am aiming for then i will post a pic of it! see you soon guys!

My early easter kitsuke.
SO as i said last time i got me some hakama! So i broak out my synthetic Kimono that has some lovley styalised sakura on branches all over it. this was actuly my first kimono and is a bit of a pain to put on because it is just so dang slipery! The hanhaba i wore with it actuly came in a set i got from Yukata Kimono market sakura. so all in all its all synthetic. My boots which seem to be a hit on Immortal Geisha already are a great find i had on Overstock.com. They were origanly $200 but at 90% off were right at $20... wich is why i got them. They have a nice big chunky heel.
ok and so... pictures!
Ah it was lots of fun... but alas i probibly have only one more Awase kitsuke in me anyway... the season is almost over to begin with but its already getting to the 80 F range or around 27 C.
alas i also have no Ro or Hitoe kimono because i started my collection is August last year... all i have is 1 yukata... and so, being a kimono loveing texan... after i get my Ko-furisode i will begin to work up my collection of summer garments... its neccisary because by july there will be 100F+ (38C+) weather and if i even tried to wear Awase outside the house i would probibly overheat quickly and pass out...( not kidding)
So far this is the one thing i hate about texas... though i will probibly stay here if given the choice... maybe one day i will move a tad more north.... like to dallas or forthworth... i hear they have a gorgeouse japanese garden.... oh well. this is enough ranting for now. wish me luck on my kimono goals!

Hakama
Ok so bout two weeks ago i caved for something. My own pair of navy blue hakama. i figured all the hakama wouldn't be of 'proper length' in the furi hakama sets so i got my own ahead of time! well they came today, much faster then expected really, and so i desided to take a picture and then put them up untill this week end. i'll probibly wear it with my sakura polyester kimono and boots.
here are some pics of the hakama:
well see you soon! i'll definatyly post my pics quickly!
